Fire Stopping

Fire Stopping is a set of measures aimed at preventing the spread of fire, smoke and toxic gases through building structures in the event of a fire. This includes the use of special materials and technologies for sealing utility penetrations, seams, joints and other openings in walls, ceilings and floors.

The main components of Fire Stopping are:
1. Fire-resistant sealants – used to fill cracks and joints.
2. Fire collars and couplings – installed on plastic pipes to prevent them from melting and spreading fire.
3. Fire-resistant boards and panels – used to protect openings in walls and ceilings.
4. Fire cushions and foam materials – provide temporary or permanent protection for cable penetrations.

Fire Painting (Fire-retardant paint):

Fire-retardant paint is applied with a brush or roller. When heated, it swells, forming a heat-insulating layer that slows down the heating of the structure and prevents its destruction.

• Application: protection of metal beams, columns and wooden structures.

• Types: water- and organic soluble paint.

• Levels of fire resistance : from 30 to 120 minutes.

Fire Spraying (Fire-retardant spraying):

Spraying is carried out by using a special devices to creating a thick heat-insulating layer.

• Application: concrete, metal and air ducts.

• Materials: cement, gypsum, vermiculite and other mixtures.

• Levels of fire resistance: up to 240 minutes.

Fire curtains:

Fire curtains are fire-resistant barriers designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke in buildings. They automatically lower in the event of a fire, blocking the openings and creating a barrier to fire.

Types of fire curtains:
1. Fire Curtains - hold back the spread of fire, withstanding high temperatures (up to 1200°C).
2. Smoke Curtains - limit the movement of smoke, facilitating the evacuation of people.
3. Combines type- combine both functions.

They are used in shopping centres, offices, warehouses, airports and other public buildings.

Fire boarding:

Fire boarding is a process of installing fire-resistant boards to protect building structures from fire. These boards are used in passive fire protection of buildings, preventing the spread of flame and increasing the fire resistance time of structures.

Types of materials used for Fire boarding:
1.Fire-resistant gypsum plasterboards with fire retardants-provide protection from 60 to 120 minutes.
2. Vermiculite and cement boards - resistant to high temperatures and suitable for protecting metal structures.
3. Calcium silicate boards - lightweight and durable, withstand temperatures up to 1000°C.

Fire-protection compound:

Fire-protection compound is a special fire-resistant material used to seal openings, seams and penetrations in building structures to prevent the spread of fire, smoke and gases.

The main types of fire-protection compounds:
1. Fire-resistant sealants - used to seal joints and seams.
2. Fire-resistant cement and gypsum mixtures - used to seal openings around cables, pipes and air ducts.
3. Intumescent compositions - when heated, they foam, blocking fire and smoke.

Fire-protection compounds ensure effective fire Stopping, preventing the spread of fire inside the building.
